Majority of economists see no SNB movement until Q4 2019 - Reuters Poll
According to a Reuters poll of economists, all respondents believe that the Swiss National Bank (SNB) will be remaining steady on rates for the foreseeable future, with the earliest calls for a rate hike not clocking in until Q2 2019.
Key highlights
The SNB has kept inflation expectations low, holding onto their reduced outlook for 2019 and 2020 made in September, and economists continue to hold the line that the SNB will not be moving on rates until the European Central Bank (ECB) does so first.
With the SNB on pace to keep interest rates at one of the lowest in the world, and unmoved for nearly four years straight, the Swiss central bank remains overly cautious as they believe that risks will continue to grow in the months to come.
