AUDUSD sedentary on thin columes following a blustery mid-week

  • AUD/USD holding onto Wednesday, Thursday gains.
  • Aussie unmoved by RBA Governor Lowe .

AUD/USD is trading flat in Asia following a volatile Thursday marked by volatility and a new high for the pair, quickly followed by a decline in London and a bounce in New York.

The pair is now treading water stoically ahead of the Tokyo session, and the appearance of the Reserve bank of Australia's Governor Philip Lowe before the Australian parliament's House of Representatives' Standing Committee on Economics did little to affect the pair, as Governor Lowe reiterated many of his points from his appearance a week ago, with the RBA still forced into a holding pattern regarding interest rates as economic growth from the island continent continues to come out mixed. Full details of Governor Lowe's speech here.

AUD/USD Technicals

Intraday support./resistance for the pair is spaced wide today thanks to Thursday's volatility, priced in at the high/low of 0.7966 and 0.7892 respectively. On H4 candles AUD/USD has moved into bullish territory this week thanks to weakness in the Greenback, while Daily sticks have the Aussie moving into a bullish trend, bouncing from th3200-day SMA and closing over the 34 EMA at 0.7894.
