NZD/USD collapses to 0.8000

FXstreet.com (San Francisco) - The NZD/USD has been hit hard by the 0.8100 resistance and after testing this level in the European session, the pais has been launched more than 100 pips down to trade below the 0.8000 and trade as low as 0.7990.

Currently, the NZD/USD is pricing at 0.8005, 0.30% negative on the day. The short term perspective is slightly bearish according to the FXstreet.com trend index in the 15-minute chart. Indicators such as MACD, CCI and Momentum are pointing to the south while the Stochastic is bullish.

Below the 0.8000 area, next supports are at 0.7985, 0.7935 and 0.7880. To the upside, resistances are at 0.8050, 0.8100 and 0.8135.

US jobless claims/inflation a ringing endorsement to September Fed tapering

With the September Fed meeting drawing nearer, every US jobs report and economic indicator will be under the microscope. One such release was reported earlier today, with Initial Jobless Claims falling to a fresh six-year low last week, coupled with consumer prices that rose broadly in July. This certainly is viewed as welcome news for the Federal Reserve, already inching closer to trimming its massive bond-buying program.

The US NAHB Housing Market Index grew to 59 in August, from 56 in July, according to data released by the National Association of Home Builders. Analysts expected the indicator to remain unchanged.
