US March durable goods orders ex transportation to see a decline – Nomura
FXStreet (Barcelona) - Research Analysts at Nomura, preview the US March durable goods orders data release and expect the ex transportation number to continue its weak trend.
Key Quotes
“Excluding transportation, durable goods orders have been weak since late summer, raising concerns about future factory activity. Production data and the current activity subindexes within manufacturing surveys were weak in March. Thus, we expect a continuation of the tenuous trend in durable goods activity in March and estimate that durable goods orders excluding transportation declined by 0.3%.”
“However, based on the increase in motor vehicle assemblies in March, we expect a gain in transportation orders. This should help prop up the headline number. As a result, we forecast that total durable orders increased by 0.6%.”
